The Halls Awards are a celebration of all the incredible students in our residences.
They celebrate everybody, from our Residence Life Assistants, who are key points of support and security for our students, our Residence Life Social Committees, student volunteers who plan and run events for their peers, to students who are outstanding members in their communities!
Nominations can be submitted by anyone living in halls and they close on Monday 2 March, so make sure you have your say!

Halls Hero Award (Any student in Halls) x 2 -Celebrating the students who bring our Halls to life: the flatmates, friends, and everyday heroes whose small actions create big impact.
These Awards honour someone whose everyday actions; whether building life skills, supporting social responsibility, or shaping a shared identity - make Halls feel like home.
These Awards are a chance for you to highlight and celebrate the impact that these amazing students have had on your time at University!
You can nominate any of the people who have made a difference to your year, no matter how big or small the impact.
You can also give a shoutout to any staff members that have had an impact on your time in halls, so if you have someone in mind, let us know so we can shout about it!
How do we select the shortlist?
The winners of the Awards are to be selected on the following grounds:
- The extent to which the nomination demonstrates the award description
- The range and depth of examples given in the nomination
- The impact demonstrated by the nomination
Unsure what a good nomination looks like? Check out our guide for some examples:
Each member of the Residence Life team will create a shortlist for each award based on the above criteria.
Each individual shortlist is then collated and the teams or individuals shortlisted the most make it to the final shortlist.
Then, an independent judging panel comprised of two senior members of LUU and two senior members of Residential Services will read all the nominations for each shortlisted team or individual, and they pick the winners based on the criteria outlined above.
