You should also take some simple steps to keep yourself and your flat secure over the winter break:
- Ensure the doors and windows are closed and locked at all times
- Move your keys to a place where they cannot be seen through a door or window
- Don’t leave your valuables on show, this includes items like chargers or laptop bags
- Ensure all of your valuables are registered with immobilise.com to help your chances of recovering them if stolen
If you are going away, please remember:
- Lock your bedroom and flat doors before you leave
- Take valuables home with you – please make sure not to leave them in communal areas as Residential Services cannot be held liable for their security
- Take all of your keys with you
- Travel safely with your valuables out of sight and secured, including your mobile phone
- Make sure someone has your travel plans and knows where you are and when to expect you
- Shut windows and close your curtains, and also remember to turn the lights in your room and all electrical items off and radiators down to save energy
