We’re proud to share that Residence Life at the University of Leeds has won the Best Residence Life Experience Award for our contribution to student life!
Each year, the CUBO Residence Life Star Awards recognise the incredible work happening in student communities across the UK and beyond. For 2026, we’ve been named winners, this means your experience in halls at Leeds is being recognised as one of the best in the country.
“I am incredibly proud of the team's well-deserved recognition. They, along with our Wardens, Residence Life Assistants and Social Committees go above and beyond to ensure our students feel at home and supported, and this achievement rightly reflects the positive impact they continue to make on the student experience.”
- Rebecca O’Hare, Assistant Director (Residence Life & Accommodation Office) at the University of Leeds
How we support you
We redesigned our Residence Life Framework to make sure your time in halls is about more than just where you live, it’s about how you grow.
Through Residence Life, you have access to:
- A range of events and activities to help you meet new people and, through the Residence Life Framework develop new skills that you can carry with you throughout your University journey
- Support from your Residence Life Assistants (RLAs) and Wardens who are here to help you have the best experience in halls
Whether it’s a social event, a wellbeing session, or just a chat when you need it, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Celebrating nominations across the team
We’re also proud to share that Nathan Barker was nominated for the CUBO/ACUHO-I New Professional of the Year Award, recognising the great work he has done on reshaping the conduct process, providing pathways that focus of restorative practice to ensure you are given the opportunities to learn, reflect and grow.
We are also excited to share that we are also shortlisted for a separate national recognition: the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Spotlight Award at the 2026 CUBO Awards. This Award recognises a universities commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone living in our residences.
These national awards celebrate the very best in student experience across the UK and Ireland, so to be recognised in this category is something we’re incredibly proud of.
